To Have The Faith Of A Bird

“Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?“ …

… “If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?“

Matthew 6: 26, 30

When I look at the scene in this picture, these are the scriptures that come to mind.

Jesus does not deny the reality of human needs. but forbids making them the object of anxious care and, in effect, becoming their slave.

The word translated of little faith is used by Matthew of those who are disciples of Jesus but whose faith in him is not as deep as it should be.

Take a few moments to gaze at the picture above. Think about the birds who visit that bird house. Yes, it might provide shelter and food, but they are not attached to it.

Jesus asks us to surrender everything to follow Him. He asks us also to trust in Him with all that we have and are.

He asks us to come to Him with our sins and ask for mercy. He asks us to use the gifts He has given us for His glory.

He asks us to depend on Him for everything. He cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. How much more will He take care of us!

Not only does God ask us to trust in Him with our whole being, but He asks us to be His witnesses to the world.

I never feel like my faith is as deep as it should be, and I am too conditioned (by the world) to have the faith of a bird. But when I surrender myself to Him, it is amazing how much He shows me the way …

Enjoy your day, you'll never get it back,
