It's the month of May already! Monday was Loyalty Day in the United States, and at the end of the month we have Memorial Day.....

There are several holidays that celebrate the meaning of the American Flag. If there was one theme that I could use to describe it all, it would be the words and music by Woody Guthrie from 'This Land Is Your Land'... "This land was made for you and me".

These are the words that came to mind when I saw the moment in the image above. The clouds move across the globe, and across the vast country many of you reading this call home. ....

... and the flag in the picture might be small, but it has much strength and meaning in comparison to the size of the background.

I really have not realized the size of the United States until I took a train excursion from one end to the other. I could not help but think about the World Wars, and the US Constitution, and all the people who've made freedom possible.

All of this continues today to make sure we maintain the land of the free and home of the brave. And this all starts with 'us' I think.

In other words, 'US' may stand for United States, and what this means (to me is) it's up to 'us' to make this country great. How we live our lives, and how we influence others, and how we reach out to government and church leaders.

"Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought." -- Saint John Paul II

Enjoy your day!
