Wood Bench and Yellow Flowers

A place to rest along the preserve trail, this wood bench I find very inviting, especially with the yellow flowers ( that some may call weeds ).

When I walk the trail here at the Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve in Illinois, located a short drive south of Chicago, I often see people at this bench in deep thought or enjoying the scenic environment ... where there is always a breeze right off the lake.

There is something about places to rest that pull at me. I think it is because of our busy world, that I find many people including myself need to take the time to think and to focus. To enjoy a sunset or a sunrise, or simply the beauty of quiet. On this trail, for example, there are many things to look at, to relax your brain.

I like watching how the ducks interact with each other. The relationship between people and their dogs. Or just listening to the sounds of the different species of birds calling / communicating and echoing through the preserve.

These are the things that God has placed in our lives to enjoy and, well, preserve. It brings balance and moderation, and can actually help us perform at our full potential in other areas of our lifestyle. It's moments like these that take my mind off the 'structure' of my life and help me to drain my brain so some clarity has room to inspire.

The thing that I find refreshing about this picture and moment in time, is that if you put your finger over those flowers it becomes a totally different picture. How those flowers sort of bring a sense of life, hope, and God's provision to the scene.

I made this picture with the iPod Touch camera, and shared on Instagram the stages I used to produce this artwork. Click here to check it out! ... I've also uploaded it for sale onto my mobile prints collection.

Does this reflective moment speak to you, I'd love to read about it. Use this link for image comments, or to purchase as prints or gifts, for for digital downloads.
