Why Be Social

In my email yesterday I talked about email marketing plans for the Holiday season, as well as the Social Media platforms I am on. Several of you asked me why I use Social Media if my email marking is doing so well.

Good question! Social Media is a way (for me) to bring awareness to my Artwork and my Brand. When a person receives enough value from my posts, they subscribe to my email list.

Now, you also asked me how I chose what Social Media platforms to be on. I will list below each platform and a short description:

LinkedIn: The largest professional network in the world. Plus almost always at top of search engines.

Flickr: The place online for photography and photographers, and owned by Yahoo - the default search engine for Firefox browser, thus for image search.

Instagram - The best place for marketing and advertising photos and photography.

Tumblr: Like Facebook and Twitter, but more for graphics and photography content. Plus it's not Facebook or Twitter.

Twitter: Mostly to auto post my content from my art blog and other Social Media platforms. Used it more to share art groups when I was the group moderator for PIXELS.

Short of the long, I don't do any 'selling' on Social Media, rather attract awareness towards my talents. Email Marketing is where I do the selling. This is the audience who trusts me enough to give me their email address in exchange for information they want to know about.

This article best explains how if you have Socail Media without an email list, you most often have activity without accomplishment.

One other thing to mention, many people I know who use email marketing do not have or need a website. They just have an web URL for an opt in form for their email list. Well, since I provide art photography you'll find my pictures on all the sister sites of PIXELS.

However, I don't use a domain name either, in fact I dumped it a few years ago in exchange for branding my name - Frank J Casella - and my hashtag - #FrankJPhoto - because branding to me is being found in search engines and not a domain name.

Thank you for your questions and your interest in asking how I do things. So now you know ....

Enjoy your day!
