The Silent Power of God's Love

This picture of brightly colored flowers has a silent power to it.

Firstly, people love flowers.

Second, their fragrance is something we behold.

Finally, their beauty is an expression of God’s love to us, that we can choose to pass on to others through them.

Recently in church, the priest was talking about with the Scripture readings how power is used in the world. That world leaders use power to enforce their agenda; politicians use power to manipulate the laws; and people in general on social media can instantly condemn a persons name or integrity.

But, those of us who are believers, have the power to be witnesses of truth and love. And that power is not our own, but that of Jesus who dwells inside us.

As those readings say:

“You are witnesses of these things.
And behold I am sending the promise of my Father upon you;
but stay in the city
until you are clothed with power from on high."

Which brings me back to these simple flowers. The purpose of photography is the power to see the every day in a different light.

When I was in college it was explained that you follow the form until you gain insight to take it out of the box. And that is a fine starting point if you don’t want to spend time or energy questioning the form.

But, I took it out of the box from day one because I couldn‘t figure out how to stay in the box. Because questioning the form, to me, was embracing the new part of the medium as precisely where forward motion happens.

The only right way is the way that helps you make the change you seek.
