Shades of Autumn - Photo by Frank J Casella

Dear Friends,

If you are living here in Chicagoland, it seems the snow is staying away. We had a couple snow falls, however, the weather stays too warm to keep the snow around. You would think Fall does not want to leave us!

Anyways, I have an Autumn picture that has seen some interesting comments. This basically was what I call a grab shot, in that I saw the moment and clicked the shutter on the camera. The main subject is a man, slightly bent, looking out the window at the changing colors of Autumn.

So, I tilt the camera on the main subject, and to bring the viewer into the story telling -- and that it did. Read some comments below from the various platforms online where I share my photography.

'Very beautiful and melancholic picture, wonderful light and shadows!'

'Something rather nice about this. It looks slightly crooked but that works towards the general feeling of tranquility in this very well lit scene. Love this internal lighting.'

'You cant help but wonder what is going through the mind of the solitary, detached figure by the window.'

'To be absolutely honest with you, the first time I looked at this image I was ever so slightly distracted by the fact that the horizon was not straight. Yet, when I come back and look again I notice that the human figure is perfectly perpendicular, in contrast to his surroundings. Which leads me back to my original observation about what goes through his mind that is at odds with his environment. I am fascinated.'
