Prayers of a Mother

Prayers of a Mother by Frank J Casella

Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense, the term refers to an act of supplication or intercession directed towards a deity, or a deified ancestor.

Prayer, I believe, is what keeps a person together, a family together, and a nation together. The power of prayer is evident when we believe and then experience it in our own lives. There was no better model for prayer than Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

There is nothing like the power of prayer, and the powerful prayers of a Mother, they do not go to waste. The first example of prayer that Mary gave us was saying ' yes ' to bring Jesus into the world, and then how she looked to Jesus throughout his short life on earth.

We could not have Jesus without Mary. Her womb is called the first tabernacle.

The month of May is devoted to Mary in the Catholic Church. Though you may think, if you are not Catholic, that we pray to Mary to answer our prayers. Rather we pray for her to intercede to Jesus, just like we may ask a friend to pray for us, or pray to a deceased family member as I do with my own late parents to intercede my prayers. And who better to ask to supplicate to Jesus than his own Mother.

The pope has asked in a special way this year ' Let us rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home during May! At the end of each Rosary, we can recite a prayer asking for Marys intercession, that the Lord might free us from this pandemic and life might serenely resume its normal course ' here.

There is nothing like the prayers of a Mother. This month, let us not only make it a time to remember our own Mother in prayer, but I invite you to join me in praying these prayers from the pope.

Keeping you and your family in prayer.

Frank

PS: My colleague artists have created some wonderful artwork of Mary, and more, that that you can browse in the Catholic Art Gallery - Artist Group on Pixels ( Fine Art America ) I curate.
