Being Intentional

Some people I find own a Christian business. But is it really, or in name only?

There are some people I find who say they own a Christian business, yet how they do things makes me wonder if this is so. And there are others who are not Christian, and the service they provide you'd think they were Christian owned.

This is similar to how some people have a heart for God, and others who have Christ in their hearts.

So, have you noticed as I have, how there is a difference between a Christian who happens to own a business, and a business that is Christian?

In other words, if you're going to run your business on Christian principles, then study what that is and how it makes you different. Like, about thirty years a go I went through the one-week seminar by Larry Burkett known as "Business by the Book".

I also belonged to a Christian business men's forum, of a hand-full of guys who discussed the opportunities they were facing, and how does Jesus tell us to do these from the Bible. This program has evolved and can be found at crownbiz.org.

This all reminds me how the late business guru Peter F. Druker says, something like, “A mission statement has to be operational, otherwise it’s just good intentions. A mission statement has to focus on what the institution really tries to do and then do it so that everybody in the organization can say, This is my contribution to the goal”
